The Aurora African American Health Coalition has dedicated its services to educating the community about health issues. We seek to challenge healthcare providers and community leaders to organize, influence, and educate the community-at-large on how to lead a healthier lifestyle in a cost-effective manner.

 

Health outcomes of our community residents relating to preventable diseases are startling! The benefits of conducting community events to provide education, information, and services are plentiful. It gives us an opportunity to teach people how to maintain health, improve their quality of life, and motivate people to take the appropriate steps to make a healthier lifestyle a reality.

We seek to provide all of this and more to our communities, but we cannot do it without the generous support of our community partners. Over the years, our community events, including the annual health fair, have helped over 7,000 people. One exceptional aspect of our health fairs is the opportunity to offer free comprehensive laboratory testing for the attendees. This provides our attendees, most of whom do not have adequate health insurance coverage, with information about their health status (at no charge) that they may not otherwise be aware of. Even though we do not charge our attendees for the comprehensive laboratory testing, as you would conclude, there is a cost associated with offering such a service. Our projected cost to provide this service for the 2025 fair will be $30,000. Of this amount, the cost of lab screening for our attendees will be $15,000.
